Joshua David Duhamel was born in the North Dakota town of Minot. Bonny L., his mother, is a former high school teacher and the Executive Director of Minot’s Downtown Business & Profession Association, and Larry Duhamel, his father, is an advertisement salesperson. Ashlee, McKenzee, and Kassidy are Josh’s three younger sisters. His ancestors are German, with little bits of Norwegian, French-Canadian, English, Irish, and Austrian thrown in for good measure (his last name is very common among Francophones in the world).
Prior to his acting career, the football player studied biology at Minot State University and received a Bachelor’s degree with the goal of going into dentistry.
Josh worked in construction when he was 26 years old, and he got into the show business by happenstance. Josh was requested to audition for the title role in The Picture of Dorian Gray (2004), based on Oscar Wilde’s novel of the same name.
Duhamel may be seen in the CBS series “Battle Creek,” created by Vince Gilligan and David Shore. He’s now working on four projects: “Lost In The Sun,” “Bravetown,” “The Wrong Stuff,” and “Beyond Deceit.”
